Silent Auction

Silent Auction

The Denman Island Readers and Writers Festival has been a huge success for 16 years, but it can be a challenge to cover all of the expenses of putting on the event.  This year, we have taken a number of steps to remedy that, including our first ever Mini Silent Auction.

A number of generous local artists and businesses have donated items for this event, creating an opportunity for you to acquire something wonderful and/or useful for yourself while supporting the festival.  Here is a partial list of items:  a vase by Tom Dennis Pottery, a mask by Bentley LeBaron Pottery, a beach-glass dish by Lilac Sun Pottery, a variety of items made by the Denman Island Spinners and Weavers plus a tea towel and weaving lesson by Isabelle Fusey, a basket of goodies plus a gift certificate from Edible Island, a turned maple bowl by John Kirk, and coffee beans from the Denman Island General Store.  Gift certificates include the Earth Club Factory, the Denman Island Craft Shop, Seeco Automotive, Fanny Bay Oysters, My Tech Guys, Able & Ready Septic Tank Services, and The Cheshire Cat – Curio & Vintage Shop.

How will it work? Come by the registration area in the Activity Centre anytime between Friday morning at 8:30 and Saturday at 4:30 pm to view the items, and write your bid on the bid sheet for the item you wish to bid on.  Attend the Happy Hour on the back deck of the Community Hall (Saturday 4:45 – 6:00 pm) to find out if you have the winning bid.  You’ll pay for and take your item at that time.  It’s just that easy!  Thank you for your support!
